Allergies are of many different types including food and airborne allergies, they are increasing worldwide and still we do not know about them. We do know that an allergic reaction is triggered when the immune system is mistaken by identifying an allergen as a harmful thing. An allergen is a substance like a mold, pollen or it may be some substance in food that upon entering our body causes immune system to release certain chemicals to attack the invader.
Symptoms of allergy can cause naval passage to close, eyes and nose releases water drops, skin to develop rashes and also cause problems in the digestive system. They can range from mild to severe condition and could also be a life-threatening. People always say that allergies are an issue that starts in childhood and stays with us into our adulthood, but that is not always the case.
One theory states that food allergies are very high because our food is less contamination than years ago. This cleaner food has fewer bacteria which makes our food safer from contamination. It also means that our immune system has not had to do enough, so when it does get something foreign; it tends to overreact to the allergens. With the increase of pesticides in our food production system and genetically engineered foods our immune system becomes overwhelmed. In simple words experts do not really know, so there is a lot of guessing going on.
Food allergies are the most dangerous and they must be taken very seriously. Food allergy should not be confused with food intolerance, which a totally different subject. But certainly knowing foods that set off allergic reactions and avoiding those foods will relieve a person’s system of a lot of stress. Likewise it would probably not be wise to just leave it at that.
Understanding the necessity to maintain a healthy gut flora is definitely going to help in meeting any challenges for your overall health, and this certainly includes your immune system. Overuse of antibiotics, high consumption of unhealthy fats and anything that kills the healthy bacteria that fights disease is things that will cause havoc with our gut flora. Hence makes us susceptible to outside attack.
Processed foods, chlorinated tap water, grains, sugar and agricultural herbicides are all those things that we consume on a daily basis that kill important gut bacteria. Even though there is still a lot we still must learn about the causes of allergies, we do know the importance healthy gut flora has in staving off food allergies.
