Abbie Gets Fit is the endearing and compelling true story of one nine-year-old girl’s daily journey to fitness with her father. Motivated by a failed fitness exam at her school, Abbie and her father set out on a 6-month quest to improve her fitness levels and prepare for the next exam.
The Book Review:
As we all know that physical education classes are rapidly vanishing from schools across the country, and many kids are being forced to spend their free time in front of screens instead of playing outside or in other physical activities. It is so unfortunate and condemn-able because due to the lack of physical activity, many kids are facing the problem of childhood obesity.
Alarmed that his own daughter was becoming an unfit kid, Doug Werner, an expert of the health and fitness industries, was worried about his daughter who was becoming an unfit kid. He created a straightforward plan to help put her back on the path to better health and fitness. Abbie Gets Fit is based on that personal experience.
Abbie Gets Fit is a picture book and is most appropriate for children with ages four to ten. The book has many colorful and eye catching illustrations and a very simple language which makes it easy for children to pick the essence. The story is very well narrated and the author did an excellent job of explaining why fitness is essential for everyone.
What we liked the most in this book is that how children can achieve their goals in a systematic way with determination and hard work. Being physically fit is as important as getting good grades in school.
